Bani Israel (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 1-20

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Glory be to Him Who caused His servant to travel at night from the sacred mosque to the distant mosque whose surrounding We have blessed, so that We show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 17:1]

And We gave Musa the book and made it a guidance for the sons of Israel (saying): You should not take other than Me as Trustee.
[Al Quran ; 17:2]

The descendants of those whom We carried with Nuh; indeed, he was a grateful servant.
[Al Quran ; 17:3]

And We had decreed for the sons of Israel in the book: You will surely make mischief in the land twice, and you will surely exalt to great height.
[Al Quran ; 17:4]

So when the promise for the first of them came, We sent over you servants of Ours who possessed a great strength, they ravaged through the homes. And the promise of Allah was to be fulfilled.
[Al Quran ; 17:5]

Then We returned to you the turn to prevail over them; and We supplied you with wealth and sons and made you more in manpower.
[Al Quran ; 17:6]

If you do good, you do good for yourselves, and if you do evil, you are for it. So when the last promise came to sadden your faces and to the mosque as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they gained with (total) destruction.
[Al Quran ; 17:7]

Hopefully your Lord will grant you mercy; but if you return, We will return. And We have made hell for the unbelievers a prison bed.
[Al Quran ; 17:8]

Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is best and gives good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that for them will be an enormous reward.
[Al Quran ; 17:9]

And as for those who do not believe in the hereafter, We have prepared for them a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 17:10]

And the human supplicates for evil as his supplication for good; and the human is ever hasty.
[Al Quran ; 17:11]

And We have made the night and the day two signs; and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day full of light that you may seek grace from your Lord and may know the count of years and calculations. And everything We have explained in details.
[Al Quran ; 17:12]

And (for) every human, We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce to him on the day of resurrection a book which he will encounter wide open.
[Al Quran ; 17:13]

Read your book, sufficient is yourself against you that day as a reckoner.
[Al Quran ; 17:14]

Whoever is guided is only guided for his soul; and whoever is misguided is only misguided against it. And no sin bears the burden of another, and never would We castigate until We send a messenger.
[Al Quran ; 17:15]

And when We want to destroy a village, We command its rich people so they become disobedient therein; thus the saying is justified against it, and We destroy it with (total) destruction.
[Al Quran ; 17:16]

And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Nuh. And sufficient is your Lord concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 17:17]

Whoever wants to have it hastened, We hasten to him therein what We will to whom We want; then We make for him hell, he will reach it condemned, rejected.
[Al Quran ; 17:18]

And whoever wants the hereafter and work for it its work while he is a believer; then it is them whose work will be ever appreciated.
[Al Quran ; 17:19]

To each (of them) We supply to these and to those from the giving of your Lord; and the giving of your Lord is never restricted.
[Al Quran ; 17:20]

Bani Israel (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 21-40

Look how We have favoured some of them over others; but the hereafter is greater in degrees and greater in favour.
[Al Quran ; 17:21]

Do not make with Allah another god, lest you sit down condemned, neglected.
[Al Quran ; 17:22]

And your Lord has decreed that you do not worship except Him, and (show) kindness to the parents, whether one or both of them reach old age with you, and say not to them, uff, and do not insult them, and say to them an honourable saying.
[Al Quran ; 17:23]

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say: My Lord! Have mercy upon them, as they raised me up (when I was ) young.
[Al Quran ; 17:24]

Your Lord is best Knowing of what is within yourselves; if you are pious, then He is with those who turn (to Him) Forgiving.
[Al Quran ; 17:25]

And give the relative his right, and the needy and the traveller, and do not waste (your money) wastefully.
[Al Quran ; 17:26]

Indeed, the wasteful are the brothers of the devils; and the devil is ever to his Lord ungrateful.
[Al Quran ; 17:27]

And if you turn away from them seeking mercy from your Lord for which you hope, then say to them a gentle saying.
[Al Quran ; 17:28]

And do not make your hand shackled to your neck, and do not stretch it in complete stretch, lest you sit down blamed, insolvent.
[Al Quran ; 17:29]

Indeed, your Lord stretches the provision for whom He wills and restricts (it). Indeed, He is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted, Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 17:30]

And do not kill your children fearing poverty, We provide for them and yourselves; indeed, their killing is a huge mistake.
[Al Quran ; 17:31]

And do not go near adultery; indeed, it is ever an indecency and an evil way.
[Al Quran ; 17:32]

And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly, We have made to his guardian (heir) an authority, so let him not exceed (the right of) killing; indeed, he has been helped.
[Al Quran ; 17:33]

And do not go near to the wealth of an orphan except in a way that is best, until he reaches his strength. And fulfil the covenant; indeed, the covenant is ever questioned.
[Al Quran ; 17:34]

And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with a straight balance; that is good and a better determination.
[Al Quran ; 17:35]

And cause not (others) to follow that of which you have no knowledge; indeed, the hearing and the vision and the heart, for all of these, you will be questioned.
[Al Quran ; 17:36]

And do not walk on the land exultantly; indeed, you will not pierce the earth nor reach the mountains in length.
[Al Quran ; 17:37]

All that is ever evil, with your Lord, (and) hated.
[Al Quran ; 17:38]

That is of what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom. And do not make with Allah another god, lest you be thrown into hell, blamed, rejected.
[Al Quran ; 17:39]

So, has your Lord chosen for you sons and taken from among the angels daughters? Indeed, you say a great saying.
[Al Quran ; 17:40]

Bani-Asrael (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 41-60

And We have certainly explained in this Quran that they may remember, but it does not increase them except in aversion.
[Al Quran ; 17:41]

Say: If there were with Him gods as they say, then they would have sought to the Possessor of the throne a way.
[Al Quran ; 17:42]

Glory be to Him and exalted is He is above what they say by great height.
[Al Quran ; 17:43]

The seven heavens and the earth glorify Him, and whoever is in them. And there is not a single thing except that it glorifies Him by His praise, but you do not understand their glorification; indeed, He is Forbearing, Forgiving.
[Al Quran ; 17:44]

And when you read the Quran, We make between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a hidden barrier.
[Al Quran ; 17:45]

And We have made over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn back in aversion.
[Al Quran ; 17:46]

We are most Knowing of how they listen to it when they listen to you, and when they are in private conversation, when the unjust say: You do not follow except a bewitched man.
[Al Quran ; 17:47]

Look how they strike for you examples, so they have strayed and they cannot find a way.
[Al Quran ; 17:48]

And they say: When we are bones and (decayed) fragments, will we be resurrected as a new creation?
[Al Quran ; 17:49]

Say: Be stones or iron.
[Al Quran ; 17:50]

Or (be) other creature which is great in your chests. And they will say: Who will return us? Say: The One Who originated you the first time. Then they will shake their heads to you and say: When? Say: Perhaps it is near.
[Al Quran ; 17:51]

The day when He will call you, and you will respond with His praise and think that you had not remained except for a little.
[Al Quran ; 17:52]

And say to My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, the devil induces among them; indeed, the devil is ever to the human an obvious enemy.
[Al Quran ; 17:53]

Your Lord is most Knowing of you; if He wills, He may grant you mercy, and if He wills, He may castigate you. And We have not sent you over them as a trustee.
[Al Quran ; 17:54]

And your Lord is most Knowing whoever is in the heavens and the earth; and We have certainly favoured some of the prophets over others, and We have given Dawood the Psalms.
[Al Quran ; 17:55]

Say: Call upon those whom you alleged other than Him, for they do not possess the removal of adversity or transferring (it).
[Al Quran ; 17:56]

Those whom they call seek to their Lord means of access, (striving to) which would be nearest, and they hope for His mercy and fear His torture. Indeed, the torture of your Lord is ever to be avoided.
[Al Quran ; 17:57]

And there is not a village except that We will destroy it before the day of resurrection or castigate it with a severe torture. That has ever been in the book written.
[Al Quran ; 17:58]

And nothing could have stopped Us from sending signs except that the former (people) denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible (sign), but they did injustice to her. And We do not send the signs except as a threat.
[Al Quran ; 17:59]

And when We said to you: Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people. And We did not make the vision which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the cursed tree in the Quran. And We threaten them, but it does not increase them except in great transgression.
[Al Quran ; 17:60]

Bani Israel (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 61-80

And when We said to the angels: Prostrate to Adam; and they prostrated except Iblis; he said: will I prostrate to whom You created from clay?
[Al Quran ; 17:61]

He said: Have You seen that whom You has honoured over me; if You delay me until the day of resurrection, I will surely destroy his progeny except a few.
[Al Quran ; 17:62]

He (Allah) said: Go; for whoever follows you of them, then indeed, hell will be your reward, an ample reward.
[Al Quran ; 17:63]

And incite whoever you can from them with your voice and assault them with your horses and on foot and share them in wealth and children and promise them. And the devil does not promise them except delusion.
[Al Quran ; 17:64]

Indeed, (as for) My servants, you have over them no authority; and sufficient is your Lord as Trustee.
[Al Quran ; 17:65]

Your Lord is He Who drives for you the ships through the sea that you may seek of His grace. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 17:66]

And when adversity touches you in the sea, lost are those upon whom you except Him. And when He saves you to the land, you turn away. And ever is the human ungrateful.
[Al Quran ; 17:67]

So do you feel secure that He will not cause the side of the land to slide with you or send upon you a sand storm? And you will not find for yourselves a trustee.
[Al Quran ; 17:68]

Or, do you feel secure that He will not return you back into it another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for that in which you disbelieved? And you will not find for yourself against Us therein an avenger.
[Al Quran ; 17:69]

And We have certainly honoured the sons of Adam and carried them in the land and the sea and provided for them from the good things and preferred them, over most of what We have created, with preference.
[Al Quran ; 17:70]

The day We will call every people with their leader. And whoever is given his book in his right hand, then those will read his book; and they will not be dealt with unjustly as much as a thread.
[Al Quran ; 17:71]

And whoever is blind in this, then he will be blind in the hereafter and more astray in the way.
[Al Quran ; 17:72]

And indeed, they were about to tempt you away from that which We have revealed to you that you forge about Us something else, and (only) then they would have taken you as a friend.
[Al Quran ; 17:73]

And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.
[Al Quran ; 17:74]

Then (if you did), We would have made you to taste a double (punishment) in life and a double in death, then you would not have found for yourself against Us a helper.
[Al Quran ; 17:75]

And indeed, they were about to provoke you in the land that they might expel you therefrom; and then they will not leave behind you except a few.
[Al Quran ; 17:76]

The way of those whom We have sent before you of Our messengers, and you will not find to Our way an alteration.
[Al Quran ; 17:77]

Establish prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and (recite) the Quran of dawn, indeed, the Quran of dawn is witnessed.
[Al Quran ; 17:78]

And in the night, pray humbly with it (the Quran), an addition for you that perhaps your Lord will resurrect you to a praised stand.
[Al Quran ; 17:79]

And say: My Lord! Cause me to enter a truthful entrance and cause me to exit a truthful exit and make for me from Yourself a supporting authority.
[Al Quran ; 17:80]

Bani Israel (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 81-100

And say: Truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is ever vanishing.
[Al Quran ; 17:81]

And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers; but it does not increase the unjust people except in loss.
[Al Quran ; 17:82]

And when We bestow favours upon the human, he turns away and isolates himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.
[Al Quran ; 17:83]

Say: Each works according to his manner; and your Lord is most Knowing who is best guided in way.
[Al Quran ; 17:84]

And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is from the affair of my Lord, and you were not given of knowledge except a little.
[Al Quran ; 17:85]

And if We willed, We could surely take away that which We revealed to you, then you will not find for yourself thereafter a trustee against Us.
[Al Quran ; 17:86]

Except as a mercy from your Lord; indeed, His grace upon you has ever been great.
[Al Quran ; 17:87]

Say: If mankind and jinn gathered to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring the like of it, and even if some of them were backup to the others.
[Al Quran ; 17:88]

And We have certainly explained for the people in this Quran of every example, but most of the people refused except disbelief.
[Al Quran ; 17:89]

And they have said: We will not believe you until you break open for us from the land a spring.
[Al Quran ; 17:90]

Or (until) you have a garden of palm trees and grapes and make rivers gush forth in the midst of it in great gushing.
[Al Quran ; 17:91]

Or you make the sky to fall upon us, as you alleged, in fragments or you bring Allah and the angels in front of us.
[Al Quran ; 17:92]

Or you have a house of ornament or you ascend into the sky, and we will not believe in your ascending until you bring down to us a book which we may read. Say: Glory be to my Lord! Was I ever except a human messenger?
[Al Quran ; 17:93]

And nothing prevented the people to believe when guidance came to them except that they have said: Has Allah sent a human messenger?
[Al Quran ; 17:94]

Say: Had there been on the earth angels walking securely, We would have sent down upon them from the sky an angel messenger.
[Al Quran ; 17:95]

Say: Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you; indeed, He is ever concerning His servants Acquainted, Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 17:96]

And whoever Allah guides, he is the guided; and whoever He misguides, you will not find for them guardians other than Him. And We will gather them on the day of resurrection on their faces blind and mute and deaf; their refuge will be hell, whenever it subsides, We increase them in burning.
[Al Quran ; 17:97]

That is their reward because they have disbelieved in Our signs and said: When we are bones and (decayed) fragments, will we then be resurrected as a new creation?
[Al Quran ; 17:98]

Do they not see that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, is able to create their like? And He has made for them a term, about which there is no doubt. But the unjust people refused except disbelief.
[Al Quran ; 17:99]

Say: If you possess the treasures of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold (them) in fear of spending. And ever is the human stingy.
[Al Quran ; 17:100]

Bani Israel (The Sons of Israel)

Translation

Verses 101-111

And We had certainly given Musa nine clear signs, so ask the sons of Israel when he (Musa) came to them. So Firon said to him: Indeed, I think, O Musa, that you are bewitched.
[Al Quran ; 17:101]

He (Musa) said: You have certainly known that none has sent these (signs) except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, visual signs; and indeed, I think, O Firon, that you are destroyed.
[Al Quran ; 17:102]

So he wanted to provoke them in the land, so We drowned him and those with him all together;
[Al Quran ; 17:103]

And We said after him to the sons of Israel: Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise of the hereafter, We will bring you in gathering.
[Al Quran ; 17:104]

And with the truth We have sent it down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you except as the giver of good tidings and as a warner.
[Al Quran ; 17:105]

And (it is) a Quran which We have divided that you might read it upon the people slowly. And We have sent it down, the way it should be sent down.
[Al Quran ; 17:106]

Say: Believe in it or do not believe; indeed, those who were given the knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, they fall down upon their chins in prostration.
[Al Quran ; 17:107]

And they say: Glory be to our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.
[Al Quran ; 17:108]

And they fall down upon their chins weeping, and it increases them in humbleness.
[Al Quran ; 17:109]

Say: Call upon Allah or call upon the Compassionate; whomever you call, to Him belong the best names. And do not recite your prayer loudly or quietly but seek between that a way.
[Al Quran ; 17:110]

And say: Praise be to Allah, Who has not taken a child nor was for Him a partner in the kingdom, and (Who) has no guardian out of weakness. And magnify Him with magnification.
[Al Quran ; 17:111]
